Multi-disciplinary treatments often represent a challenge for the dental team.
In many cases Orthodontics could improve treatment planning and outcome.
This lecture will discuss the interaction of Orthodontics with other dental
specialties, especially periodontics and restorative dentistry.
The role of Orthodontics with the aim to facilitate restorative treatments, to
save compromised teeth and to avoid or post-pone implant placement will be
discussed.

Implant therapy can be very successful when optimal conditions for implant
placement are achieved. In the daily routine these conditions are not always
present and should be established before implant treatment.
Orthodontics could be an excellent tool to optimize implant placement and to
obtain successful implant-supported restorations. The interaction of all dental
disciplines in complex rehabilitations with management of vertical dimension
will also be discussed.
