Peri-implantitis. How do we treat it?

Peri-implant diseases are increasing. It is estimated that between 10-20%

of implants can present peri-implantitis. However, there is little evidence

available to treat this disease in a predictable way.

It is essential to understand how this pathology occurs, its pathogenesis

in order to apply more effective treatments. These are more aggressive

lesions than periodontitis, and therefore to some extent with different

management. A non-surgical treatment protocol based on pathogenesis

will be shown with results of up to 10 years of follow-up. Surgical

techniques, both resective and regenerative, will also be addressed.

Addressing complex recessions. Mucogingival surgery 2.0

Mucogingival surgery helps us to restore the aesthetics of the smile

but also to improve the support of the teeth and therefore its longterm

maintenance. Classic and new techniques can be used with

slight modifications in advanced recession situations. In addition,

interdisciplinary treatments can help us to treat these complex recessions

to achieve success in treatment. It will be shown a new interdisciplinary

protocol for the treatment of class 3 / RT2 recessions in anterior teeth of

periodontal patients.

Understanding the mechanisms, which favour the stability and integrity of

the facial tissue dimensions over time will facilitate future innovations in

tissue regeneration, surface technology and treatment concepts to provide

predictable aesthetic success in implant therapy.

The aim of the presentation is to assists clinicians in comprehensive

treatment selection to achieve successful long-term outcomes.
